Social Responsibility
Wesleyan has an active Charity Advisory Committee which supports a number of
good causes and matches funds produced by employee sponsorship raising efforts.
In recent years more than £800,000 has been donated to a number of charities
including the BBC Children in Need appeal, Red Nose Day, Birmingham Children’s
Hospital and Children Fire and Burns Trust.
Each year staff choose their Charity of the Year and organise a number of events
in support of it. This year we are supporting The Alzheimer’s Society and are
working closely with them to raise as much money as possible and we will be
taking part in the charity's Memory Walk to raise funds to help improve the
quality of life of people affected by dementia.
Marie Curie Cancer Care was the Staff Charity of the Year for three years
prior to this and over £100,000 was raised to help them with their work. This
year, for the third consecutive time, we will act as main sponsor for the Marie
Curie Brain Game. This is one of the highlights of the Birmingham corporate
social calendar and involves businesses competing against each other to win the
coveted Brain Game title.
