Since January 2005, he's been a member of the Board.

"I'd visited Wesleyan back in 2002 to look at the company's point-of-sale software. I was impressed by what I saw, as well as the financial strength of the business and its customer base. When an opportunity came up to join in 2004, I took it."

"It was immediately obvious that the calibre of the clients here was very high. Over the past few years, we have segmented our customer base and developed an even deeper knowledge of the medical markets. We've also expanded Wesleyan for Teachers and launched Wesleyan for Lawyers. These are all areas I hope to grow even further in the future. The aim is to be the undisputed provider of choice for professionals everywhere."

"Because of the financial strength of Wesleyan and the fact that we re a mutual, we have the freedom to invest for the benefit of our members and staff. We take long-term decisions and we're not distracted by tomorrow s share price."

"At a personal level, it's the kind of place where you can get to know pretty much everybody else. We have fantastic customers and great technology. And there's genuine career potential. If the Academy had been around when I was changing career, I would have jumped at the training. Not to mention the salary package, bonus potential and prospects!"

-->
Simon Rake

36-year-old Simon Rake is currently National Sales Manager at Wesleyan for Teachers. He originally planned a career in the armed forces, but after graduation chose to work in recruitment consultancy before heading into financial services.

"A head hunter I'd used in my previous job told me about the Area Manager's opportunity at Wesleyan about a year and a half ago. The more I found out about the company's background and progressive business strategy, the more interested I became! I felt there was real potential to develop a long-term career. I also liked the fundamental belief in face-to-face advice."

"There's no doubt that you really feel part of a family here, despite the size of the organisation. It's a highly professional business, but the structure and support is there to help you develop and grow. Wesleyan is also open minded about innovative ways to build on its potential in the professional market place."

"If you're thinking of leaving your current role and training to be a financial consultant here, what I'd say is that you'll be rewarded in relation to your performance and the amount of effort you put in. You'll also be in a business that has a clear vision and strategy, as well as the stability and financial strength to allow for development in the future."

Theresa Walkden

Trainee Financial Consultant Theresa Walkden is 29 years old, and has been with Wesleyan for just five months. Prior to joining the company, she was an Independent Mortgage Broker with John Charcol in Brighton.

"I was looking for a Trainee Financial Advisor role through a recruitment consultancy and they introduced me to Wesleyan. I was immediately impressed, not only with the excellent basic salary, the incremental pay-rises when you pass exams and excellent training, but also with the fact that it s a mutual company that looks after its policyholders. I also liked the way they specialise in the professional market I trained as a solicitor and would provide me with a variety of experiences, whilst still making use of the experience I brought with me."

"My first impressions were excellent. Simon Rake, NSM for Wesleyan for Teachers, told me exactly what Wesleyan is about and what I could expect from my career. Since then, I ve had nothing but good experiences, from the training and support to the great people I work with."

"For the future, I d like to finish both my CF exams and the Academy programme and build up a strong pipeline for next year, when I want to start making real money. I plan on staying with Wesleyan for the long term, establishing my area and building great relationships with schools."

"Wesleyan s a fantastic place to work, where you feel like you re running your own business but you ve got endless support to call upon when you need it. Great people, great training, amazing potential for the future. I should have joined them sooner!"

Register

By registering your details and employment preferences you can be updated with all our latest vacancies.
Register now

Candidate Sign In

To access your existing account
sign in

© Wesleyan Group 2008
