SSI UK's restoration of steel making on Teesside marks not only the return of steel making on Teesside, but also the rise of Teesside steel in the global steel industry landscape.
Message from our CEO
This is a very exciting time for us at SSI UK as we implement our plans to resume steelmaking here at Teesside. There is a proud heritage of steelmaking in the area which was continuous for 160 years up to the plant being mothballed in February 2010 . Following the purchase of the business by SSI we now have a fantastic opportunity to play our part in its revival and the creation of its future. This new chapter in the plant’s history, and the chance to bring steel production back on stream, contrasts with a trend over many years which has seen the demise of manufacturing in the UK.
I welcome this opportunity to contribute to the recruitment programme by making a few comments which may interest any would be applicants for positions within the SSI family.
Here at SSI we are determined to create a safe, successful and sustainable business and be a major player in the local economy and community. We are looking to attract high calibre and well motivated individuals who will help us in reaching our goal of becoming a world class steelmaker.
People will always be at the heart of any successful business and here at SSI we believe that our passion to succeed, coupled with an engaged and committed team of employees, will be the key to our achievements. What we as a business are aiming to achieve will be defined by our goals - how we behave in delivering those goals will be driven by our values.
Successful organisations have clear values that are reflected in the way they do business. We have a set of values which will underpin our culture and be reflected in how we behave and interact with each other. Everyone will have a part to play and be responsible and accountable for their own behaviour.
Our values are ;
Personal values are invisible but become apparent through our behaviours. If you can relate to these values and would like to be part of an organisation that translates them into its everyday routine, then this could be the opportunity you are looking for.
As well as looking for the necessary operational, functional and technical skills appropriate to the various roles, the personal qualities of individuals will be a key consideration in our assessment for recruitment. I would ask anyone interested in joining SSI to consider these values carefully, as these will need to be committed to and demonstrated by successful applicants.
I hope you find this helpful and thank you for showing your interest in SSI .
