Employee Testimonials

Phil Crowson - Operations Manager - Lanes for Drains in Southampton

I have worked at the South Central division in Southampton since 2003 in a variety of roles including jetvac and jetting engineer before becoming Operations Manager. I am proof that Lanes is a company that encourages people who are keen to progress through the ranks to achieve their goals and move forward with their careers. Here at South Central we are friends, not just colleagues and we are encouraged to socialise outside of the working environment. As part of a national company we have forged close bonds with other regional divisions. I really love my job being part of a busy operations team. I fully recommend a career at Lanes Group plc – a company that promotes from within and in my experience provide an enjoyable environment to work in – albeit on occasions a dirty one!

Catharine Ward - Administrator - Reline division in Manchester

I haven’t been with Lanes very long – just since February 2006. I thoroughly enjoy every day. The work is varied every day and exciting. I can only tell people how good it is to work at Lanes.

Melvyn Crabtree - Regional Manager - Derby

I first joined Lanes as Regional Manager in 1996 when Lanes bought my drainage company. The company was much smaller then and I left in 1997. But I didn’t stay away because I had enjoyed my time at Lanes, so I in 1999 I returned to the East Midlands division as Regional Manager to a growing company - on a 3-month temporary basis. I was still there in 2001 so I agreed to take the role on a permanent basis and I’m still here now. One of the things I like about Lanes is that I haven’t had to give up my other job – I work as an “extra” actor in soaps and I have been able to fit in filming in with my work – one minute I’m the body double for Phil Mitchell the next I’m making sure that my teams are sorting the drains at the Woolpack.
